Quizzers
boost Memorial Fund
Pub quizzers at The Three Compasses in Charminster
have donated their winnings towards the restoration
of the village's War Memorial. Explained organiser
Geoff Puryer "Instead of paying out prize money
on our monthly quiz nights we decided to use the proceeds
to help local good causes. In the last year we have
raised £460 and at the December quiz our teams
chose to donate all of the money to the War Memorial
Restoration Project"
Receiving a cheque from pub landlord Terry Dixon,
the project's manager Graham Matthews commented "
This generous and unexpected donation makes a huge
difference to our plans. It takes the fund so close
to the total amount we need to raise that we will
now be able to commission the restoration work to
start in the next few months. Thank you to everyone
who contributed"
